Maths & English Teacher, SEMH
The Supply Service are recruiting for a Full Time Maths & English Teacher on behalf of a SEMH Childrens Residential School based in Welshpool, Powys.
Successful applicants will have the ability to adapt to different educational settings effectively, whilst supporting children and young people aged 11 to 18 with a range of acute and enduring mental health issues.
Challenging and complex needs are present, including mental health issues and associated learning needs.
The school operates a ‘Stage not Age’ curriculum and is Therapeutic in its pedagogy and curriculum design. ‘Pupils do well because they can’ in an environment which is carefully designed and supported for pupils to be able to engage, achieve and grow. who require educational English tuition to be taught at GCSE level. Plenty of support is available for the successful Teacher from Teaching Assistants, Teaching staff and Leadership team.
As a SEMH Teacher you'll need to have:
- Affinity for children with SEMH needs
- Ability to plan, teach and assess your specified subject, and ideally some other subjects
- Engage pupils to secure accredited certificates and qualifications
- To teach dynamic and engaging lessons across key stage 3,4 and 5
- To be creative in planning and able to create an inclusive learning environment
- An effective communicator with children, parents and colleagues
- A team player, able to work collaboratively
- Pastoral capabilities, including contributing to IDPs
- Adaptable and proactive, professional at all times
- Committed to safeguarding children at all times.
